Jr. Kings product, Manhattan Beach native Shane collects weekly ECAC Hockey honors

Cornell senior goaltender Ian Shane has been named ECAC Hockey’s Goaltender of the Week.

Shane backstopped the No. 6-seeded Big Red to its series sweep of No. 3-seeded Colgate in the best-of-three quarterfinal of the 2025 ECAC championship at the Class of 1965 Arena in Hamilton, N.Y., this past weekend.

Across his pair of appearances last weekend, Shane allowed one goal in 120 minutes of action, leading to a 0.50 goals-against average and a .977 save percentage (42 saves on 43 shots).

Holding Colgate scoreless in Saturday’s 3-0 victory, Shane posted his Division I-leading 14th career shutout, breaking his tie with Cornell Athletics and Hockey Hall of Fame goaltender Ken Dryden for the fourth-most shutouts in program history.

In 30 games this season, Shane has a 14-10-6 record with a 2.23 goals-against average and .898 save percentage. Over the Big Red’s three postseason contests this season, Shane has allowed two goals in 180 minutes of action, leading to his 0.67 goals-against average and .968 save percentage (60 saves on 62 shots).

Back home, the Manhattan Beach native played for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
