Mountain View native, Jr. Sharks product Abene commits to NCAA Division III Colby College
Deerfield Academy captain Max Abene has committed to NCAA Division III Colby College.
Going into his senior year, Abene has long been known for being a shifty, crafty, 200-foot forward.
Growing up in the San Jose Jr. Sharks system, the Mountain View native showcased his skill, consistently averaging over a point per game before transferring to Deerfield Academy.
After a strong sophomore campaign, Abene has 10 points in his last 12 games for Deerfield, located in Deerfield, Mass.
This fall, Abene joined the Cape Cod Whalers’ 18U squad, where he quickly emerged as one of the top forwards, finishing third on the team in goals and tied for four in points.
“Max is a playmaker,” said Whalers head coach Matt Collins. “He affects the game with every shift. Works hard on and off the ice and makes players around him better.”
Colby is a NESCAC school located in Waterville, Maine.
