Orange native, Jr. Kings product McGrew tabbed captain for ECHL’s Knight Monsters
The ECHL’s Tahoe Knight Monsters have announced their leadership group for the 2026-27 season, naming Orange native Jake McGrew captain.
McGrew, a third-year Tahoe forward, is the second captain in franchise history, with second-year Tahoe forward Jett Jones and veteran defenseman Bobby Russell being named the two alternate captains.
McGrew, 27, comes off a season last year in which he appeared in 62 games for the Knight Monsters and put up 22 goals, his highest total in a season as a professional. Over the course of the first two seasons, the Los Angeles Jr. Kings graduate has appeared in 132 games for Tahoe, totaling 78 points (41 goals, 37 assists). He served as an alternate captain in last season’s leadership group for the Knight Monsters.
Selected by the San Jose Sharks in the sixth round (159th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft, McGrew helped the Jr. Kings’ 16U AAA team capture a Pacific District championship in 2016.
