McLellan powered Denver to a sweep of then-No. 6 Boston College, scoring his first three goals of the season in the series to help keep DU perfect on the season.

In Friday’s 3-0 shutout of the Eagles, the San Jose native and Jr. Sharks graduate potted an empty-net goal to make it 2-0 and seal the victory. He also fired six shots on goal and was plus-1 in the whitewash.

The next night, McLellan scored two goals for his first career multi-goal game. He tied the game at 1-1 with a power-play goal in the first period, then put DU ahead for good at 3-2 with a goal early in the second stanza. McLellan was again plus-1 and earned First Star of the Game in Saturday’s 6-4 victory.

The alternate captain finished the series with three goals, nine shots on goal and a plus-2 rating while winning 20 of 39 draws in the faceoff circle (.513 faceoff percentage).

With his three goals, McLellan has already matched his goal total from last season.
