Jr. Ducks product, Tustin native Connelly signs NHL deal with Vegas after freshman season at NCAA D-I Providence

The NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights have signed forward Trevor Connelly to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Connelly spent the 2024-25 season at NCAA Division I Providence College where he appeared in 23 games with the Friars. Connelly produced 13 points (four goals, nine assists) as a freshman at Providence and helped his team to a 21-11-5 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament before falling to the University of Denver.

The native of Tustin has represented the United States on the international stage throughout his young career, most recently in January at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Championship when the Americans won gold. Connelly played in each of USA’s seven games during the event held in Ottawa, Ont., and registered four points (goal, three assists) with a plus-3 rating.

A year prior, Connelly earned a silver medal with USA at the 2024 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, tallying four goals and five assists in seven games.

The 19-year-old was drafted by the Golden Knights in the first round (19th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft in Vegas and participated at the team’s Development Camp in July.

Connelly played for the San Diego Saints, Anaheim Ice Dogs and Anaheim Jr. Ducks back home.

In addition, fellow California native Harrison Scott (San Jose, Maine) signed an AHL contract with the Texas Stars after his season ended with the Black Bears.

On the ECHL side, Brett Roloson (Newport Beach, Niagara) inked with the Allen Americans, Josh Groll (San Diego, Minnesota State) signed with the Fort Wayne Komets, Ian Shane (Manhattan Beach, Cornell) with the Norfolk Admirals and Kaelan Taylor (Oceanside, Clarkson) with the Tahoe Knight Monsters.
