Valencia’s McNeil, Bakersfield’s Dunnigan named weekly USPHL award winners
A pair of California products have claimed weekly honors from the USPHL.
Fresno Monsters forward Tyler McNeil is the Pacific Division Forward of the Week and Connecticut Jr. Rangers goalie Bryce Dunnigan is the Atlantic East Division Goaltender of the Week.
Two different opponents had no answer for McNeill, who is just torching his way through the Pacific Division. In just 19 games this season, he already has 49 points, with 10 of those coming this past weekend in lines of 2-2-4 and 3-3-6 against the Ontario Jr. Reign and San Diego Sabers, respectively.
The 2002 birth year from Valencia has seen his fair share of Tier II experience as well, including time with the NCDC’s Philadelphia Hockey Club.
During his youth hockey days, McNeil skated for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, Valencia Jr. Flyers, WSHL’s Valencia Flyers and Tahoe Prep.
A second-year Jr. Ranger, Dunnigan, an ’02 out of Bakersfield, earned his second straight win on Jan. 13 when he faced 48 shots against the PAL Jr. Islanders and sent away 47 of those in 65 minutes. He also stopped both shootout attempts against him while Connecticut’s Tamasz Szekeres and Robert Moliterno sank theirs for the 2-1 shootout victory.
Back home, Dunnigan played for Tahoe Prep and the Jr. Flyers.
