Hockey East has announced that Merrimack blueliner Slava Demin is the Hockey East Defender of the Week.

Demin, a graduate student from Cypress, dished out three helpers on the weekend, including setting up the game-winning goal in Friday’s 1-0 victory over Maine and adding two more in Saturday’s 5-2 triumph.

During his youth hockey days, Demin skated for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks.
