Jr. Kings product, Manhattan Beach native Shane picks up weekly honors from ECAC Hockey

 

Cornell junior goaltender Ian Shane has been tabbed the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, stopping 42 of the 44 shots he faced (.955 save percentage) in the pair of victories over RPI and Union.

Shane, who earned his fifth weekly honor of the season, led all ECAC Hockey goaltenders in wins (2) and save percentage (.955) and was tied with Yale’s Jack Stark, ECAC Hockey’s Rookie of the Week, for the best goals-against average (1.00).

During Cornell’s 12-game unbeaten streak, Shane has compiled a 9-0-3 record with a 1.46 goals-against average and a .928 save percentage. Since the calendar flipped to 2024, Shane is 9-0-1 with a 1.38 goals-against average and a .932 save percentage.

This season, Shane has a 15-2-4 record with a 1.62 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage. Shane has the best goals-against average in Division I hockey, and boasts the ninth-best save percentage in the nation.

During his youth hockey days, the Manhattan Beach native starred for the Los Angeles Jr. Kings.
