Oilers, Jr. Ducks alum, San Diego native Ivey earns weekly Atlantic Hockey America accolades
Army West Point freshman forward Ben Ivey has been named the Atlantic Hockey America Forward of the Week.
Ivey scored a goal in all three quarterfinal games at Niagara this past weekend and orchestrated a three-point night (goal, two assists) in the winner-take-all Game 3 on Sunday.
The San Diego native started the weekend by scoring Army’s first goal of the game at 5:40 of the second period in Friday’s Game 1. He then brought the Black Knights within one with a goal with the extra attacker at 19:45 of the third period on Saturday. Ivey’s strong weekend culminated in a three-point performance in Sunday’s Game 3, which included the primary assist on Barron Woodring’s overtime game-winner. Ivey scored a goal earlier in the game at 19:51 of the second period to put the Black Knights up 2-1. He also assisted on Easton Zueger’s goal at 8:04 of the 3rd, which game Army a 3-2 lead.
In addition to his five points, Ivey fired 14 shots on goal and blocked four shots in the quarterfinals.
On the season, Ivey is up to eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points.
Back home, Ivey played for the SDIA Oilers and Anaheim Jr. Ducks.
