UConn senior Claire Peterson has been named the Hockey East Defender of the Week.

Peterson, a San Jose native, was a part of a defense that allowed only eight shots on goal in Friday’s 7-1 win over Stonehill.

In addition, Peterson scored a power-play goal and assisted on another in the outing.

Back home, Peterson played for the San Jose Jr. Sharks and also played club and high school roller hockey for the Silicon Valley Quakes.
